Welcome to our latest email update. In this edition we are offering our latest TEAL Insight Local Area Achievement! to download free of charge. We have also been very busy over the past few months working with our partners to develop an extensive workshop programme. Details of all these new workshops are included below.

In collaboration with our partners the Lean Academy in Wolverhampton, Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Surrey we have developed an extensive workshop programme which addresses a number of key issues for the public sector. All of these workshops can be tailored to your organisation's needs and can be run inhouse.
  • Lean Awareness for Service Organisations - 8 July 2008, 9 September 2008, 12 November 2008, Wolverhampton
    Delivered in partnership with the Lean Academy, this one-day workshop will demonstrate how Lean management, an established and proven approach from the commercial sector, can be applied to service delivery and the office in all types of organisations.
  • Lean Leaders Briefing - 9 July 2008 (am/pm), 10 September 2008 (am/pm), 11 November 2008 (am/pm), Wolverhampton
    Lean leadership is critical to the success of any Lean intervention - find out how in this half-day workshop.
  • An Introduction to Six Sigma - 9 September 2008, Guildford
    A one-day interactive workshop which provides delegates with a clear introductory overview of what exactly makes Six Sigma different.
  • The Balanced Scorecard and Strategy Mapping - 25 September 2008, Sheffield
    Aimed at senior managers and performance specialists who wish to understand the principles of the Balanced Scorecard and strategy mapping and how it might be applied in their organisations; this workshop introduces strategy mapping.
  • Lean Management for Service Organisations - 21 October 2008, Guildford
    Learn how lean management, an established and proven approach from the commercial sector, can be applied to operations in the public sector and service organisations.
  • Lean Sigma - 14 October 2008, 2 December 2008, Wolverhampton
    This one-day workshop will examine how the 'DMAIC' approach can support Lean implementation. This established and proven Six Sigma methodology can provide Lean practitioners with a robust structure to support a Lean programme.
  • Systems Thinking - 15 October 2008, 3 December 2008, Wolverhampton
    Providing an insight into how an holistic approach can overcome traditional barriers to change and create sustainable and resilient organisations.
  • The Balanced Scorecard and Strategy Mapping - 18 November 2008, Guildford
    Providing an overview of the Balanced Scorecard, this one-day workshop explains how it can be used as a strategic framework to manage performance and drive improvement in any type of organisation.
  • Intuition at Work - Dates tbc, Guildford
    This workshop will explore the concept of intuition in management, the psychological processes which enable managers to make informed intuitive judgements, the specific role played by intuition in creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship, and the ways in which intuition at work can be made more effective.
  • The Challenges of First-Line Leadership - Dates tbc, Guildford
    First-line managers are increasingly expected to exercise broader managerial and leadership responsibilites in addition to the more traditional tasks of day-to-day supervision. This workshop will explore the tensions both within and between these different responsibilities as experienced by delegates and examine ways in which they can be addressed and negotiated.
  • Managing Learning through Language: The Art of Effective Questioning - Dates tbc, Guildford
    The aim of this workshop is to develop an advanced understanding of the nature of questions, and how to use them effectively.
